Eddie "The Eagle" Belfour
Eddie Belfour

Ed Belfour was born on April 21, 1965 in Carman, Manitoba, Canada. He played his junior hockey with the University of North Dakota of the NCAA. He wasn't drafted by an NHL team and signed with the Chicago Blackhawks. After a year in the International Hockey League and a stint with Canada's National team, Eddie took over the reigns from Greg Millen and became the number one goalie in Chicago ahead of another no-namer, Dominik Hasek. He won rookie of the year honors in 1990-91.

Eddie had great success in Chicago, playing on winning teams with the likes of Jeremy Roenick, Chris Chelios, Steve Larmer and Michel Goulet. They made it to the Stanley Cup finals one year but didn't win the trophy. In 1997, he had a short stint with the San Jose Sharks before signing as a free agent with the Dalls Stars. Eddie was part of some great hockey teams in Dallas, playing alongside fellow hockey greats Mike Modano and Brett Hull. In 1999 he led the Stars to their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

In 2002, Eddie Belfour signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs as Curtis Joseph decided to leave for Detroit. The Eagle has been very successful in his two years in Toronto, but has not been able to put the team over the hump by winning a Stanley Cup championship. Early in the 2005-06 season, he surpassed Terry Sawchuck to become the second most winningest goalie in NHL history - only behind Patrick Roy. Eddie's great stats and longetivity virtually guarantee him a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame. His career has been nothing short of amazing - with him rising to the top after being given up on by all the other NHL teams.

On a more personal level, Eddie is a huge car buff! He loves classic and muscle cars with his site describing him as a "Mopar" man. He has several classic muscle cars including  Chargers, Cudas, Dusters and Challengers.
